Thanks to all who voted on our last poll about the range of posts for homeschooling opportunities. The majority was in favor of just seeing opportunities from the Northwest Missouri area, so that is where we will continue to focus our resources. However, there were several who wanted to see opportunities from the entire US and even the world, so we will occasionally post especially intriguing resources and opportunities from further afield.
THE CONNECTED HOMESCHOOL NEWSLETTER IS NOW BEING PUBLISHED!

FAMILIES FOR HOME EDUCATION's 31st RALLY AT STATE CAPITOL
March 4, 2014, 12:00 Noon
Join fellow home educators from across the state as we join together to
support the efforts of our FHE Lobbyists, Kerry & Abram Messer. We will have
the opportunity to meet and greet lawmakers, renew friendships, and let our
legislators know that homeschoolers are doing fine, and we just want to be
left alone! This is an opportunity for these legislators to see home
educated students up close, and for the fruit of our labors to be evident.
Home school families are the best ambassadors for home education. Your
participation in the process is crucial to the efforts of the FHE Board and
lobbyist. The Rally will take place in the Capitol Rotunda, where legislators will
address the group, our lobbyist and executive director will give us updates
on the state of home education in Missouri, and home educated musicians will
share their talents for us. This should be the best field trip of the year! It is a perfect opportunity to engage in civics, learn about our state's history and governing process. You won't want to miss this.

CPHE REGIONAL SPELLING BEE
Friday, May 2, 2014, 10:00 am
Sherwood Bible Church, 4900 N Norton Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64119
This relaxed spelling bee is for students who want a friendly bee but with real competition. A trophy will be awarded for each level of competition. The bee is open to any homeschool student* who is in grades one through twelve. To have a successful bee we really need judges, so please consider serving your homeschool community in this way. Parents of participants may serve as judges.
Registrations are due April 18. We need to have at least two spellers in a level to hold the bee for that grade. If there are not enough registered spellers in a particular level the speller will be notified by April 21 and will be given the option of competing at the next highest grade level. To register, volunteer, or ask questions you may contact Lori Camper at: firstname.lastname@example.org
