FHE VIRTUAL HOMESCHOOLING 101 WORKSHOPS
FHE (Families for Home Education) is a great place to start for Missouri specific information regarding homeschooling! Their website has lots of information and they are hosting weekly Zoom workshops for those exploring homeschooling. If you are interested in joining us, then please send an email to fhemoregion5@gmail.com and Kim will send you the details. We will cover MO law, record keeping, logging hours, curriculum, learning styles, etc.

Homeschool Juried Art Exhibition
Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art

We are excited to partner with the AKMA to host a Juried Art Exhibition for our homeschool community! 
Art can be dropped off at the museum at the following times: : 
Saturday, Aug. 1 1 pm – 4 pm
Sunday, Aug. 2 1 pm – 4 pm
Monday, Aug. 3 by appointment only
Tuesday, Aug. 4 10 am – 6 pm
Art will be on Display from August 7-Sept. 20th
There will be an Opening Reception on Friday, August 7th from 4-6 PM where awards will be given out and the exhibition will officially be open. The pieces will hang in the museum for over a month (Aug.7th - Sept. 20).

CHARLOTTE MASON ST. JOSEPH
A Charlotte Mason group for homeschooling moms in St. Joseph, Missouri. We welcome both new and experienced Charlotte Mason educators to join us. We meet monthly. Find us on Facebook.


FALL ENRICHMENT CLASSES
Class sign-ups will be August 11, 2020, 10 am to noon at
Bode Ice Arena, 2500 Southwest Pkwy, St Joseph, MO 64503
12 week classes start August 25, and runs through November 10
8 week classes run from September 22 to November 10
Our Grand Finale will be November 10 in the evening after a full day of classes.
We are meeting this year at Sojourn Church on Savannah Avenue,
1825 Savannah Ave, St Joseph, MO 64506


REMINGTON NATURE CENTER ACTIVITIES
Friday Feeding Frenzy - come help feed the fish every Friday at 10:30 a.m.
Second Saturday Kids Quest - second Saturday of every month (except holidays) at 1:00 p.m.
Last Sunday Craft Club - last Sunday of every month (June-August, except holidays) at 1:00 p.m.
Last Saturday Craft Club - last Saturday of every month (September-May, except holidays) at 1:00 p.m.

EXCEL SPEECH SERVICES
Kathy Blair is the owner of Excel Speech Services, providing speech therapy for the community.  A speech pathologist specializing in working with pediatric patients and homeschool students of all ages.  As an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certified, Missouri Teacher Certified, State of Missouri Licensed speech pathologist with over 20 years of experience, Kathy Blair has worked with many children over the years with various speech-language deficits.  Speech therapy targeting articulation, receptive language, expressive language, overall language deficit, fluency (stuttering), speech apraxia, phonological process errors, resonance disorders (related to repaired cleft palate), speech delays related to ear infections and hearing loss, etc., Kathy has much experience helping children from the early childhood age range up through high school age.   Her form of therapy focuses on the positive and involves play activity for younger children.  As a homeschool mom herself, Kathy is homeschool friendly, providing therapy in a non-threatening, professional, parent/speech pathologist team manner.  She currently offers speech evaluation and speech therapy services for a low, cash only, rate.  This makes effective speech therapy available to the homeschool community at an affordable cost.  She currently has many openings  for new clients in her schedule.  If interested in contacting Kathy Blair, please contact her through email or by phone!

HOMESCHOOL ART CLASSES
Art Teacher Tracy Porter, with 18 years of experience teaching elementary/middle school art 
is offering to teach art lessons to homeschool students.
A variety of art lessons will be taught, utilizing several medias and covering a range of elements and principles of art.  Lessons will include focus on master artists, as well as integration of other subject matters: science, history, music, literature, and more.  Each lesson will be finished within a two hour time frame.  If there is extra time, we may have time for drawing lessons or other short projects.  
Cost:  $10 per child per lesson
Supplies to bring are noted for each lesson, some supplies will be provided.

Class size will be limited to 15 students, ideal age is grades 2-8
 Ms. Porter needs a location for classes.  If you would like to host classes in your home, you will receive a discounted lesson price.
